The Future and Conditional tenses are no different in Spanish than it is in english. The Future is used to specify actions that will occur in the future, and conjugated just like English (e.g. "I will play soccer tomorrow"). The Conditional Tense is used to specify actions that would occur, and also conjugates normally. However, unlike many of its partnering tenses, the Future and Conditional are probably one of the most simple ones yet. Most verbs are regular, and the irregulars are limited to 12...for both! Conjugating here we go!
To form the Future tense using regular verbs (AR/ER/IR, the ending does not matter), you simply follow a two-step process:
é | emos |
ás | éis |
á | án |
To form the conditional tense for regular verbs (AR/ER/IR, ending does not matter), follow two simple steps:
ía | íamos |
íás | íais |
íá | íán |
The Future and Conditional Tenses have very few irregulars, and the best part - they have the exact same ones! The endings are not different, but rather the verbs have different stems. Here they are!
